'Reaper' Update

Hi there, well just to let you know that 'Reaper' is coming along nicely.  I'm up to 7,500 words now and still climbing.  The story is progressing along at a good speed and the plot is unfolding as I write, which is always a good thing.  I never try to plan my story too rigidly as I find that it seems to take on a life of its own as I am writing it.

Also, for me to plan something too much usually takes the edge off and makes it harder to write, so I just go with flow and see what happens.  I usually have a solid start and some sort of an ending - (which is subject to change depending on what happens) - in my mind before I actually begin to write but the rest is a complete mystery.

I like this method as it allows for expansion and more creativity, and if I do get stuck along the way, a solution usually presents itself within a day or so.

I'm not saying that this is how you should write, it's just what works for me.  I've just got used to my brain liking to figure things out along the way, instead of having it all cut and dried before you start.  Another bonus to the way I write is, that sometimes your characters don't always want to behave the way you want them too, they begin to evolve on their own this could pose a problem within the core of the story if you plan it too tightly and then nothing seems to fit. However, the way I write if the characters rebel, I can alter the plot to suit with no big stress.

So rather than nailing yourself to a set idea and premise, a totally fixed idea, breathe and let it flow, it's so much more fun that way and the characters you thought you'd dislike, you end up liking and the characters you like, you end up disliking - writing can be an ugly business at times but it's the best fun in the world for me.

Until next time...

Reaper ~ An Angel of Death Novel

Reaper is the first book in the Angel of Death Series.

"The only thing worse than being dead, is being alive with no soul"

It tells the story of Aneira Whyte, who finds out she is the only female Reaper in existence, right after her Aunt unexpectedly dies.

Conner Cross, is her only ally when a series of teenage deaths and disappearances occur in the town she has just moved to.

All eyes are on her as the mysterious killings and strange vanishings began right after she arrived in the sleepy town.

This is just a little taster of the novel I am currently working on, hopefully the first draft will be finished by Christmas... if you want to know more visit my website or come back for updates.

Hi and welcome to my new blog

Hi and welcome to my new blog.

I am a writer of young adult novels, mainly the paranormal genre.  I have a few books written and will spend the next few months Kindle-izing them.  The first one to be available is 'Scarlett Phoenix' Part I in the Seraphoenix Saga.  Part II is called 'Crimson Fire' and will be next on the Kindle hit list.  And when I have time to figure out Lulu.com all my books will be available there too, as paperbacks.

So stop by as often as you like to find out what's happening in the Bella Harte Book World and what I'm writing at the moment.

If you want to ask me any questions about writing and/or publishing etc... I'll do my very best to answer your queries.
