Her fall has just begun. Only his touch can save her from the shift that could destroy it all.

Within my blood runs a thing our kind calls the Shadowing Disease. It shadows over, and bends everything to its will. When the first blood- shift came, it tore through flesh and blood, threatening to bend me, break bone, shatter my mind and entrap my heart with its honeyed, seductive poison. It came with vicious intent, moving my thoughts and altering me forever. The shift has caused a rift within me. No one was safe when it entrapped me in its claws of foul lust. But I have the only antidote against the evil that becomes me – his touch alone has the power to release the spurs of sweet darkness that clung on for dear life. I knew what I had to do; the desperation pulled my mind with the deep determination of a hungry predator. But by the time the revelation raised me from the dark dungeon of my bounds – it might have been too late.

The Cover Reveal for Dehumanized by Michael Loring

Cover Reveal!

 Dehumanized

by

Michael Loring

Genre: NA Paranormal / Dystopian

Amazon | GoodReads | Barnes & Noble

Ryan Zachery lived his life the way all high school teenagers should - carefree.

Until he was attacked by an unknown assailer and awoke in the hospital with lycanthropy. Taken by armed guards and dragged away from everything he held dear, Ryan was thrown into a US camp made for those 'suffering' from lycanthropy.

They caged the beast, but now he will show them that he will never be dehumanized.

Michael Loring was born in Bristol, Connecticut, but has lived in a variety of places such as Florida and Tennessee. He likes to think of himself as an amateur Lycanthropologist, studying werewolves ever since he was eight years old when he first saw An American Werewolf In London. He spent most of his life switching between home school and public school, always focusing on his passion of writing no matter what. His interest in writing was sparked in the second grade when his teacher encouraged him to write short stories for the class, earning him more than one award at school assemblies for Creative Writing. He currently resides back in his birthplace of Connecticut with a house full of women who like to drive him up the wall until he finishes his chores. Though they seem to avoid him during the night of the full moon for some unexplainable reason...

The Sunday Spotlight ~ Talking with Emma Carolan

The Sunday Spotlight

Sunday greetings readers!

I hope you all had a tres fabulous Saturday, and are now ready to get up close with my author du jour ~ Emma Carolan and find out what she does with characters she doesn't like, what music she likes and who her favourite author is, just to get you started!

Talking with Emma

on

The Sunday Spotlight

Good morning Emma, and thanks for joining us today

Firstly can you tell us a little about yourself?

Well I live in Dundalk, Co. Louth Ireland.  That's where I grow up to.  I have not live anywhere else other than Ireland.  I have one brother and one sister. I come from a very supportive family that have always encouraged me to follow my dreams not matter where that may lead.  They also thought never to be afraid to ask, as the worst thing that can happen is you get told no. I love writing and digital photography, I couldn't live without doing either of them, its in my heart.

What inspired you to start writing novels for your chosen genre?

Honestly, I don’t know. I have always had a notation to write down little thoughts notes and poems that popped into my head, and one day I started to write a story that I thought was going to be a conspiracy which turn out to be a romantic thriller. I started writing and didn't stop until it was done, and I loved every minute of it. Even when it was 3am.

Have you published any other novels, if so can you share the details?

No this is my first book. Its all so new to me.

Are you working on anything new right now?

Well I have started on a sequel to this book, if that counts.

What inspires you to write?

Everything.  The wind, the sun, the rain, happy people, sad people, crazy people, I love it all.

Can you offer any advice to the fledgling authors, just starting out?

Don’t give up and believe in yourself, take a chance on what you know is inside you.  You can’t please everyone so try and please yourself.  If you enjoy the story you have wrote and it keeps your interest then you know its good. If it doesn't then you need to rejig it a bit and mix it up, not throw it away, would you through away a half finished painting that had good potential? Keep going and never give up on your dreams.

What is your all-time favorite novel?

It's a series of novels, you may have heard of them, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.

Who is your all-time favorite author?

W.B. Yeats.

Do you have a favorite quote?

“Writers aren’t people exactly. Or, if they’re any good, they’re a whole lot of people trying so hard to be one person.”

F. Scott Fitzgerald.

If you could be any character in any novel, who would it be and why?

Alice - From Alice in wonderland. It seemed like lots of fun and lots of mystery. I like the unusual and strange things in life.

How do you come up with the Titles for your novel?

Well I wrote it, and it had the name ‘working title’ for a good while then it had the name ‘Green Eyes’ for a brief time. As I was reading over it and doing a bit of editing the name ‘Leap of Faith’ just seemed to fit right, so I went with it and here we are today.

When working on your current novel, were there any moments when you thought:- OMG what am I doing?

All The time, I thought I was crazy, but then again I normally am and that never stops me from going a head, If I am totally honest with you it still does not not fully feel real. It feels like I am a spectator of my own life and its just spiraling beyond my control.

Do you have a day job, other than writing?

Yes, I work in a call center, I have only recently been working with them. They are an internet company and they take really good care of their staff. I can’t mention who they are as I don’t have there permission, I can just say it really is a nice place to work, I do a 40 hour week.  Before that I was working on the phones for a debt collection company, I was a debt collector for just under and year.

What is your preferred method of writing:-  The plot pre-planned from day one, or just go with the flow and see what happens next?

I prefer to just go with the flow and see what happens next, it keeps me on my toes and if I don’t know what’s going to happen next then neither will the person reading it, hopefully.

Are there any tips or tricks you use to get to know your characters?

Think about them when your not writing.  If your in a situation think how would ‘so and so’ deal with this? Build them up in your mind, feel what they would feel, think how they would think, almost become them without losing yourself to them.

If you don’t like a character you’re writing about, what do you do?
a. Kill them off instantly
b. Get over it and learn to like them
c. Give them a whole new personality

b. Get over it and learn to like them - I may still not like them but they could be an important part of the story for insistence in my book there is a character called “Michael” and I thoroughly dislike every part of him, however I have not killed him off as he had an important part to play in twist to the story, he was needed, even though I despise him.

Do you like to write while listening to music and if so, does your book have particular playlist you’d like to share?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends what mood I am in.  Sometimes it can destract me from my writing. Other times it helps me to keep going.
A few that I can remember is:
Kelly Clarkeson - Stronger - With out you
Bon Jovi - Keep the Faith
Walking on sunshine - (Can’t remember who sang it)
Pink - Sober - Most of Pinks songs
There was a few more I just can’t remember them right now.

Which type of book do you prefer to read?

a. ebook
b. Paperback - I love the smell and feel of a new book, the first crack of the spine and feel of fresh pages in your hands.
c. hardback

Do you have any weird writing rituals? (Such as, you can only start writing after you’ve scoffed all the choc-chip cookies and drank 3 cups of coffee or only after you’ve listened to a certain song or playlist?)

No, I found I was quite lucky in the sense that I could write anywhere. I could block out the world around me and go off into my own little world, be in the bedroom, kitchen, sitting room, coffee shop. I could just write.

Do you have any input in the Cover design of your novel?

Yes the publishers are great they sent me over cover art work and I got to choose the picture and they never went ahead with anything without my approval.

What is the best thing about writing for you?

The piece of mind of getting it all out of my head.  The joy of creating something from nothing it feels good and it feels right.

How many novels/books do you typically read in a month?

That depends on how busy the month is but I try to read at least four a month if not more.

What is your favorite genre to read at the moment?

Thrillers, I love a good thriller. And Fantasy, getting into a whole new world that writer has created is such a good feeling.

Apart from writing, do you have any other hobbies?

Digital photography I love it.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Morning person.

What’s your least favorite part of the writing process?

Creating the story, building the characters and letting them control where the story goes.

How long does it typically take you to write a novel?

Well this is the only one I wrote, its 148‘000 words roughly and I started to write in on 07th of August 2012 and I finished writing it on 12th December 2012.  So Three to four months.

How many hours a day do you dedicate to your writing?

Anything from 3hrs to 8hrs it all depends and how much flows out at any one time, I could write anything from 1000 to 6000 words a day.

Are you a:
a. Laptop Writer
b. Desktop Writer
c. iPad Writer
d. Pen and Paper Writer

A mixture between A and D if I have my laptop with me I will use it, there I times that I am out and about or even at work and I may get an idea, I always have pen and paper in my bag, I will write in down and then type it up when I get home.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Miami - I have always wanted to go there, it looks so beautiful.

Tell us one thing that no-one else knows about you.

I could listen to classical music all day long, I love the sound off all the instruments playing and the story the melody creates in your head, not many people know I like that kind of music.
